"Simply Remember"
Paint, beads, basswood, barbed wire on a screened window frame
I love this piece.
I carved the heart and skull from basswood.
That's real, rusted barbed wire around the heart.
The words in the background are from my
favorite epitaph, which I first saw
in an very old cemetery in Ireland:
Remember man as you walk by,
So are you now, so once was I.
As I am now, so you shall be,
Remember man, eternity.
Believe it or not, I cut all of those words out of sticky shelf
paper, then used it as a stencil and sprayed
lightly with spray paint.
It was quite a proces.
