Paint and beads on a metal platter
In south Alabama, there's a little-known
phenomenon that occurs several times a year
that folks call "jubilee."
It usually happens late at night or early morning.
The water becomes so deprived of oxygen,
for whatever reason, that all the fish and other
critters go into a comatose state.
When word of a jubilee gets out,
folks literally come running with sacks and coolers,
and pluck the seafood right out of the water.
